About Our Kids Yoga Program...

Built around the vision of integrating yoga into the lives of our entire surrounding neighborhoods...we began offering kids yoga to complement our adult classes back in 2022.  We are one of the ONLY studios in the country to offer both regular adult and kids offerings.

In 2022 Sacred's Owner, Annelise, began bringing her daughter along on her retreats - out of complete necessity - but it sparked an idea..."why should busy parent's have to choose?"

In the US we often only get a few weeks of vacation a year and we deserve both an opportunity to refill our cups and precious time with our families.   And so began our "family-centric" retreats!  Our community is uniquely positioned to offer this dual-track as it's an extension of our studio and we are lucky to have the most amazing & dedicated kids yoga staff... While we still enjoy offering adult-only retreats, we are excited at the growth of our family programs and have never looked back!

What will my retreat look like?

We believe yoga retreats shouldn't take themselves too seriously - after all yoga is about balance and aligning our many sides as human beings.  Each morning will start with a breakfast smorgasbord  followed by a nature walk as we break apart for our morning practices. Our adults will enjoy an active practice led by Annelise and our Kids will commune outdoors with Jamie in our Yoga Tent to enjoy a playful and creative kids class.

Each day we'll explore the artsy and quaint towns the surround the Hudson River valley as a group.  From Cider House and local music to a morning at a Goat Farm, to exploring the quaint town of Beacon - - we'll be out and about with time to roam and explore!

Each evening we'll gather again for a softer practice; from a Restorative Storytelling class to Candlelight Yin - each night will ground us into self-nurturing, gentle exploration, followed by an early evening dinner.

Our evenings will be time for us to connect and make new memories - movie nights, game nights, bonfires and stargazing.... expect lots of laughter and joy ✨

Meet Our Retreat Leaers

Annelise K, 500ERYT

Annelise is the owner of Sacred Yoga and a professional yoga teacher with over 20 years experience working with students on a daily basis.  She is a 500HR E-RYT with certifications in Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Meditation, Womens Health, Chinese-Medicine-Theory within the framework of Yin Yoga and Trauma-Informed Teaching. She uses touches of most of these modalities in her weekly classes and leans in to these tools at a deeper level on her retreats.

Annelise teaches adults and children in the same way - with encouragement and empowerment.  She believes that yoga is an opportunity to experience yourself in a more aligned way and to connect to our "whole".  Her classes often include both the simplest and the more aspirational aspects of physical yoga - giving us each an opportunity to explore our boundaries and become more comfortable with the idea that we can do alot but we don't have to do it all.

Annelise travels with her four year old daughter - who has been a regular in the studio since 18 months.

Cassandra Ferland, 500ERYT

Cassandra has been a 500-hr certified Yoga Teacher for over 15 years. Before that, she was an art teacher to children ranging from Pre-k to 8th grade, so teaching yoga to children came naturally to her. She got her Kids Yoga and Yoga for Special Needs certifications in 2009 from Leah Kalish, the renowned author of “Yoga Pretzel” Cards. A forever student, she is also certified in Restorative, Yoga Nidra, Meditation, Prenatal, Trauma Informed Yoga, and more. Since 2010, she has led yearly yoga retreats all over the globe, including Portugal, Finland, and Mexico, in order to hold a space for students to get out of their regular life patterns, gain clarity, and move with intentionality back into daily life.

Whether teaching adults or children, Cassandra’s classes encourage exploration and experimentation in a joyful and relaxed environment. You will find breath work, meditation, and philosophy an integral part of her offerings, as well as opportunities to challenge yourself and tap into your unbound potential. She aims to create a space that gives you the opportunity to gain perspective, find balance, and reconnect with the joy and beauty of moving through life.

GETTING HERE

Our retreat space is in Gardner, NY - just under two hours from NYC.  While Newburg airport is the closest (Stewart), Laguardia and JFK are both easily driveable.  We recommend renting a car or splitting a car rental with other retreat goers and we hold a pre-trip zoom call to help coordinate logistics in early August.

WHAT AGE CHILDREN CAN ATTEND?

Every morning our retreat group splits into two tracks for our yoga practice.  Our Kids Classes are for ages 4+.  We fully expect a wide range of kids (4-12yrs) and believe this is beneficial to all children.  Kids learn and get to experience roles they may not have at home (like being the "oldest" etc).  Children 12+ can attend adult practices or may choose to spend their morning with the smaller children.

HOUSE RULES

Our Hudson Retreat will be filled with communal energy!  Beyond your room, all spaces will be shared spaces...and we ask that shared spaces are quiet spaces from 9:00PM-8:00AM each evening.  If you're a night owl, please take advantage of outdoor areas and quietly move through the house when you decide to retire for bed.

NEXT STEPS

Once registered, we will contact you to confirm your reservations and welcome you to our retreat.  A full itinerary will be available two months prior to departure.  We will communicate with you prior to then to get dietary restrictions, yoga history (so we include your favorite postures!), emergency contact info, liability release (if you are new to sacred thread).

Deposits and payments are non-refundable under any circumstances. All terms & conditions are listed at check out. Even with precautions we cannot eliminate your risk in acquiring COVID during your travels.  We assume no liability for exposures or trip disruption due to acquiring covid.
